Riverside Regional Jail (RRJ) is a multi-jurisdictional correctional facility located in Prince George County, Virginia, serving the Tri-Cities area including Petersburg, Hopewell, and Colonial Heights. Opened in 1997, the facility replaced aging city jails and serves as the centralized booking and detention center for six jurisdictions. RRJ handles approximately 12,000 bookings per year and maintains a capacity of over 1,000 inmates.
Visitation Information
General visitation is available Thursday through Sunday. Inmates are assigned visitation days based on housing unit. All visitors must present valid photo ID and are subject to search. Video visitation is also available. Contact the facility for current schedules.
Booking Process
Arrested individuals from member jurisdictions are transported to Riverside Regional Jail for processing. Booking includes fingerprinting, photographing (mugshot), medical screening, and classification assessment. The process typically takes 2-4 hours. Bond information is available after booking is complete.
