The Virginia Beach Police Department reported increased patrol activity in the Oceanfront and Town Center areas this month.

Notable Arrests

• Burglary ring — Four suspects were arrested in connection with a string of residential burglaries in the Great Neck area. All four face felony charges including breaking and entering and grand larceny.
• Drug arrests — Officers made 12 drug-related arrests across the city this week, primarily in the Newtown Road corridor.
• Domestic violence — 6 arrests related to domestic violence complaints, with 2 felony charges.

Police Checkpoints & DUI

Virginia Beach PD operated sobriety checkpoints along Shore Drive and Virginia Beach Boulevard over the weekend, resulting in 5 DUI arrests and 3 drug possession charges.

Shooting Incidents

Two shooting incidents were reported this week:

1. A drive-by shooting in the Lake Edward area — no fatalities, one suspect arrested
2. An altercation near the Oceanfront that resulted in one injury — investigation ongoing
